As a young 5th grader, I recognized God’s great love for me and His call on my life. I sensed the urgent need to confess my sin and voice my desire for Him to be my Savior and Lord. The moment after praying that prayer with my pastor, I wept and wept. To this day I can still recall the immediate joy and peace that washed over me. I’m not certain that 5th grade Alice could describe it that day, but I know now that “my chains were gone, I had been set free”.
Today I find myself more and more in awe and in gratitude for God’s unwavering love, faithfulness and goodness in my life. He instilled in me a love for special needs children and adults that led to a 37 year career in Special Education. Those years taught me that everyone is in need of the love of Jesus-students, parents, school staff. My prayer is always for Him to help me see and love others as He does. On a recent mission trip to Nicaragua, He showed me that the love and the joy He brings into our lives is not dependent on possessions or positions, but found in loving, following and serving Him.
I learned about School Ministries from a friend and quickly realized what an eternal impact it has had on children in our county. It will be the first church so many students will have attended. As our school enrollments increase in so many districts, it is imperative that the gospel reach as many students as possible. School Ministries has the opportunity to help achieve that goal and is seeing the fruits of the ministry each year.
I have served at my church as a Sunday School teacher, GA leader and Missions team member. I currently continue to teach Preschool Sunday School and serve on the Women’s ministry team.
My husband and I will celebrate 48 years of marriage this summer! We have 3 wonderful children and 5 amazing grands! My absolute joy is spending time with my grands. I love to bake and work puzzles!!
