Samantha Fowler

Board Member

Samantha is most likely to be found quietly serving behind the scenes in the details that seldom get noticed but are necessary for the accomplishment of a mission. She is faithful to stick by your side until the job is completed. It’s no surprise that her church activities include preparing for the Lord’s Supper, working in the nursery, and assisting with children’s mission groups. She sees serving as a call-- an honor to serve her Savior.

When she learned about SMSC from a friend, serving in this ministry was a natural fit. In addition to being on the board of SMSC, Samantha enjoys serving as a classroom monitor. One of her favorite memories is the day the ministry passed out Bibles. She found out about a student who wanted a Bible, but whose schedule didn’t allow them to attend the class. Not only was Samantha able to secure a Bible for the student, but also one for his sibling.

If you ask Samantha what motivates her to keep serving, she will quickly tell you it’s the students. She knows that for many of them, the Released Time class is the closest thing they get to church. Her out-of-the-box dream for the ministry: not only to reach more students, but also their parents.

Samantha’s love for missions is evident when she shares about experiences of distributing backpacks to needy children. She was filled with joy in seeing the kids open their backpack and discover basic items which they have been needing. She was so touched to witness how one student treasured a pair of gloves.

Growing up as a military kid and visiting battlefields with her dad piqued an interest in history. Her fascination was further fueled by a Girl Scout outing at Maryland’s Fort Meade where her group was housed in the barracks. Her attraction to history culminated in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the subject.

Samantha and her husband have been married for over 21 years after meeting at the ball field where they were watching their church ladies playing softball. They have one lovely daughter. Samantha enjoys cross stitching and reading in her free time.
